FAQs I Always Get as a Muralist (and My Honest Answers)

"How do you get mural jobs?"

A mix of word of mouth, portfolio updates, direct outreach, grant proposals, and being visible. I also say "yes" to small walls that align with my vision.

"Do you paint it all by yourself?"

Most of the time, yes! However, for larger projects, I often bring in assistants or collaborate with other artists.

"How much does a mural cost?"

It depends. Square footage, level of detail, surface type, location, and timeline all play a role. I have a free guide that breaks it down; I'd be happy to share it with you!

"What paint do you use?"

Outdoor murals: mostly high-quality exterior acrylics. I also love Montana gold or black, depending on the project. Indoor: This depends on the surface and look we want, but no spray is used indoors due to safety concerns.

"What if it gets tagged or damaged?"

That happens sometimes. I always try to cover my murals with an anti-graffiti coat. I also outsource that at times to my friends at Goodbye Graffiti.
